San Diego Realtor - Mickey Christian
Mickey Christian has been in leadership, founder, ownership, and management positions for almost fifty years now. After graduating from LSU where he played Varsity football, he took the role of Lieutenant in the US Army in 1969, serving his country during one of our most tumultuous times and leaving the Army as a service-disabled veteran. Mickey went right into management following his departure from the military as an Assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch and then moved into a Vice President position in institutional fixed income sales. Seeking more challenge and responsibility, he accepted the job at The Pacific Century Group as Managing Director. As a subsidiary of Security Pacific Bank, Pacific Century placed Mickey in charge of sales and marketing for the large institutions totaling $8.6 billion in assets. After 3 years as Managing Director, Mickey believed he was ready to strike out on his own, so he partnered with a trusted friend and fellow business partner, Jim Caywood, to found Caywood-Christian Capital Management.
From 1984 to 1993, Mickey and Jim ran a highly successful and internationally recognized asset management firm. Cay- wood-Christian was an SEC registered investment advisory firm and had $2.8 billion in high-yield fixed income assets under management. Mickey managed approximately $120 million in assets, alongside his other responsibilities as Co-Founder, which included but were not limited to administrative, marketing, and new product creation tasks. The assets Mickey managed varied from Fortune 500 companies’ retirement plans to insurance companies’ investment portfolios, as just two examples. Mickey and Jim built their company with no assets under management and grew it to one of the largest high yield fixed income management firms in the world.
Mickey left Caywood-Christian in 1993 when we were offered the CEO and Chairman positions at Gasmaster International. It was an opportunity to continue to earn and grow in his field. He was able to oversee patents for energy saving and emissions reduction devices, products that were sold to large energy consumers globally. The five years spent at Gasmaster gave Mickey invaluable insight into the wave of the future and the technology required to meet those future needs. From Gasmaster, Mickey headed back into finance and investment, managing assets as Managing Director of Marketing at Imperial Credit Asset Management and working in client services and marketing as Sr. Vice President at LM Capital Group, before venturing out into the world of independent contracting. Since 2002, Mickey has been fortunate to work on several boards, offer counsel in presidential and vice presidential roles with various organizations and serve as a FINRA Arbitrator. Mickey has used his skills in finance, real estate, life insurance, financing, leasing and marketing to advise others to grow their assets and business ventures. In his free time, Mickey spends time with his family including their 9 grandchildren, and occasionally enjoys a round of golf.
