Vista is a city in north San Diego County, with a population of 94,431. Vista was incorporated on January 28, 1963 and became a charter city on June 13, 2007. The Moonlight Amphitheatre is an open-air theater that specializes in musical productions, performing several during the course of the summer, and a winter season at the Avo Playhouse. Vista is served by the Vista Unified School District, with more than 25 educational institutions. Vista has eighteen elementary schools, six middle schools, and seven high schools, including Rancho Buena Vista High School, Vista High School, and Mission Vista High School. Guajome Park Academy is a charter school with joint middle and high schools that receives part of its funding from the Vista Unified School District. Alta Vista Continuation High School is another option for teens who cannot attend regular school. Besides, Biola University and Kaplan College also have a branch campus in Vista.
